Alpine French School was originally set up in 2003 as Lost In Translation. We offer a wide range of traditional French courses, including Intensive French courses, Weekly Group Lessons, Conversation Classes, French Skype Lessons and French Summer Camps. We also offer French courses with sporting activities such as skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, climbing or multi-activity options. If that sounds too active for you, Morzine is a great place to relax and rejuvenate in the beautiful Alpine scenery!
Our experienced, qualified, native-speaker teachers specialize in making your learning fun while ensuring your progression. Our multicultural, dynamic team have a wealth of experience of working with different nationalities. They will be on hand during your stay to answer any questions you may have and to help you make the most of your stay with us. We are a fairly small personalised school which means that we can really look after our students and supervise their progression and enjoyment of our courses.
We are a government recognised training provider so French business owners and staff employed on French contracts are able to get subsidised language training.

Staying with a French family is a great way to immerse yourself in the French language. It gives you the opportunity to learn the country’s customs and traditions and sample French home-cooking. You will eat with the family for breakfast and dinner (if half-board accommodation is chosen) giving you the opportunity to chat to them, practice your French and get to know some local people. Staying with a host family depends on mutual respect and a willingness to adapt to the local way of life. Morzine is a small town and the locals are very friendly and want to introduce you to the French and the Savoyard traditions and will go out of their way to welcome you into their home.
All of our host families are carefully selected by our team. They are all welcoming and keen to introduce you to the French way of life and to help you with your French studies.
All host family accommodation is easily accessible from the school, either by foot or local public transport.
Choose from B&B or half-board accommodation. If you wish to fully integrate with the family and enjoy mealtimes with them, then choose the half-board option so that you can enjoy evening meals together. If you are looking for the warm welcome of a family but with a bit more independence, then choose the B&B option.

Payment details
Payment must be made prior to the start of the course, as agreed with Alpine French School or their representative.
Group courses are booked as a course and no refunds are made for missed lessons unless agreed otherwise by contract. Our course prices are exclusive of the enrollment fee.

Payment must be made prior to the start of the course, as agreed with Alpine French School or their representative.
Group courses are booked as a course and no refunds are made for missed lessons unless agreed otherwise by contract. Our course prices are exclusive of the enrollment fee.
Details of what is included in our prices are explained on the relevant page of our website. Prices do not include flight, rail travel or insurance.
Acceptable payment types are Bank Transfer, Euro Cheque, Credit card payments over the phone or via our online payment gateway. For bank transfers, all charges are to be paid by the client. Alpine French School uses the exchange rate on the day of pricing according to the online gateway rate.
Alpine French School will not be responsible for charges imposed on you, by your bank. This also includes payment discrepancies caused by variations in exchange rates used by your bank. The school doesn’t accept Amex or Diner’s cards.
Deposit
We take a non-refundable deposit of 100€ to secure your booking and 200€ if you also book accommodation. If you book an independent apartment, then you will be asked to pay an additional non-refundable deposit for this. The deposit amount is deducted from your final balance which is payable 6 weeks before the course start date. The agreement between Alpine French School and the client becomes legally binding upon payment of the deposit.

Weekly Group lessons are booked as a course and no refunds are made for missed lessons unless otherwise agreed with the teacher.
For private lessons cancelled less than 48 hours in advance, the full amount will be charged. With more than 48 hours notice, we will do our best to re-arrange your lesson subject to availability.
In the event that Alpine French School has to cancel a lesson, another lesson will be offered in replacement.
We are happy to organize a government training budget for you if you are eligible for this (this includes the application and processing of your training budget and all the associated paperwork and administration). You will be offered a package that fits the criteria of your training budget organisation.
Alpine French School accepts no responsibility for students not receiving their training budget. This is at the discretion of the training budget organisation that you are affiliated to and is also dependent on you being up to date with all of your contributions as well as respecting the application deadlines. We organise training budget applications and help with the process but it is the students’ responsibility to ensure that all necessary information and documentation is transferred to Alpine French School promptly and that all documents provided by Alpine French School are dealt with according to our instructions.
Alpine French School cannot be held responsible for delays from budget organisations.
